Changing or Copying User Preferences

During the initial adoption of IQ, or other times when Administrators are setting up new users, or when the way in which a group of users use IQ changes, user Preferences may need to be set or changed for several users at a time.  It is possible for a user with appropriate security to copy all user preferences from one user to other users, using the Copy Preference action on the Users Search Results page. In addition, you can use the Change Preference action to set a specific preference for one or more selected users.

To copy all user preferences:

  1. Click the Admin tab.

  2. Click the Users submenu link.

  3. Search for the target user(s), these are the user records to which you are copying the preferences.

  4. On the Search Results page, select the check box next to each user record(s).

  5. Select the Copy Preference action.

  6. In the Copy From User field, click the look up icon and choose the user record from which preferences should be copied.

  7. In the Exception Settings field, click the icon and choose all preference settings that you do not want to copy to the selected target users.

  8. Click the Copy button.

To change a specific user preference:

  1. Click the Admin tab.

  2. Click the Users submenu link.

  3. Search for the users whose preference you want to change.

  4. On the Search Results page, select the check box next to each user record(s).

  5. Select the Change Preference action. IQ displays the Mass Update User Preference dialog.

  6. Click in the User Preference field and select the specific preference you would like to change.

  7. Click in the Value field and select the appropriate value for the selected preference.

  8. Click the Update button. IQ displays the message "User preference updated for # user(s)" once the update is completed.

  9. Click OK to close the message.

Note: The Change Preference action replaces/overwrites any settings the user may already have for the selected preference.
