Manual Merge

When you've identified records on the People Search Results page or within a People record to be merged or householded later, they are placed in a file and can be accessed for processing with the People Manual Merge submenu link. IQ also creates merge and household sets when you select the option to Create Manual Merge/Household Set in the AutoMerge process and places them in the same file. The Manual Merge submenu link only appears if your user-id has been granted access to Security Lock #6. IQ also provides the ability to recover records that were merged during the manual merge process.

To merge or household People records in the Manual Merge file:

  1. Click the People tab, and then click the Manual Merge submenu link. Records in each set appear on the People Record Sets Marked for Merge/Householding page. An M or H appears in the Source column to indicate whether the records were marked for merging or householding on the Search Results page. A lock icon appears next to secured records to indicate that it contains Record Security. Typically, secured records should be selected as the destination record when merging.

  2. To merge or household records in a single set, click the Merge or Household link for the set.

To merge or household records in multiple sets, select the check box next to the records you want to merge or household and then select the Merge or Household action.

Note: If records selected for manual merge do not have matching soundexes of last and first names, along with zip codes that do not match more than the first three 3 digits of the home address ZIP (or primary if there is no home address), a warning message will be displayed in red "Please verify that all records are to be merged -- possible mismatches exist in this set."  This is to help prevent the unintentional merging of records.

  1. Select the record you want to be the target record (merging) or head of household (householding) by selecting the option button next to the appropriate record. Note: If one of the records you are merging is linked to an IQ User record, IQ will automatically select it as the Target record.

  2. Click the appropriate button to Merge, Household, or Skip to the next set. If you've selected multiple records for processing, use the Merge & Next or Household & Next button to automatically open the next set in the list after you've processed the current set.

Note: If the System Configuration Setting for "Allow deletion of People with Open or Closed Workflow records" or "Allow deletion of Agency Contacts with Open or Closed Workflow records" is set to No, Manual Merge will not take place if the People or Agency Contact record(s) deleted by the merge have open or closed workflow.
