Setting My IQ Defaults

Users can choose to use the standard My IQ page or to use a customizable page.  IQ users who have access to the System Configuration Settings page can set defaults for My IQ using the Edit Web Part Configurations action. Defaults can be set by Group and/or Department, and the appearance of specific web parts can be limited to users who have been granted specific security access.

To set My IQ defaults:

  1. Click the Admin module tab and select the System submenu.

  2. Select the Edit Web Part Configurations action. IQ displays the My IQ Web Part Configuration Editor page which contains summary information on all web parts currently defined.  Web parts that appear in the default My IQ configuration are selected and configured from this page.

  3. Click Edit next to a web part name to configure its settings. IQ displays the Web Part Configuration page for the selected web part.

  4. Make changes to the appropriate standard properties and select one of the following:

Changes made to My IQ defaults are not pushed out to users who may already have configured My IQ.  Defaults should be set early in system setup to allow users to start with a valid default.  Changes made after the initial system setup can be adopted by individual users by clicking the Add Web Part from Catalog in their My IQ and then clicking the Reset link at the top of the catalog list.

Web Part Configuration Standard Properties

Title

Used to set the text for the title of the web part. For example, the default tile for the Today's News web part is "Today's News", however, you may want to change this to "Today's Headlines".

Description

Allows you to enter a plain language description for the web part,  This is especially helpful when two or more instances of the same web part are used.

Control Source

Shows the program name for the web part.  This is a read-only field.

Width

Used to set the width of the web part and a drop-down to select the units (default is pixels).

Height

Drop Zone

Determines where the web part will appear in the My IQ page.  Possible choices are Header, Footer and the columns currently displayed.

The numerical order of a web part within its zone, starting with 0.

Hidden

This check box allows you to indicate whether the web part is hidden.  Hidden items still appear when you select Add Web Part from Catalog, but are hidden from view on your My IQ page.  So, if you configure a web part and then decide you don't want to use it, you can hide it rather than remove it. This way, if you decide to use it at a later time, you can simply restore it without having to reconfigure it again.

Default Part?

Check this for the web part to be included in the default.

Check this to limit this web part so that it can be used only one time.

Web Access Required?

Identifies whether the web part requires external internet access.
