Householding Records During People Search

Intranet Quorum lets you identify People records with same address as members of the same household. This is important when sending targeted mailings, as you can limit these mailings to one per household and target the head of the household. Records can be householded immediately or later.

To household People records from the Search Results page when using a Quick or Advanced Search:

  1. Select the check box next to the records you want to household. You can perform another search to find additional records (for example, people with different last names that live at the same address) by clicking the Modify Search link.

  2. When you have selected all records to household, select the Household action. Note: This action does not appear if your IQ user-id has not been granted access to Security Lock #6.

  3. The selected records appear on the Household Selected People dialog box.

  4. Clear the check box next to any names that you do not want to household.

  5. In the Head column, select the option button next to the record you want to be the head of the household.

  6. Click the Household button at the bottom of the page to household the records immediately or click the Household Later button to add the records to the manual merge file for later householding.

To household People records from the search results when using Find/Add Person:

  1. Select the check box next to the records you want to household.

  2. Select the Household action. Note: This action does not appear if your IQ user-id has not been granted access to Security Lock #6.

  3. The selected records appear on the Household Selected People dialog.

  4. Clear the check box next to any names that you do not want to household.

  5. In the Head column, select the option button next to the record you want to be the head of the household.

  6. Click the Household button at the bottom of the page to household the records immediately or click the Household Later button to add the records to the manual merge file for later householding.

Note: Links to other members of the household appear on the Relations panel of the People Record page, which can be accessed by clicking the link in the Name column on the Household Selected People dialog.

When two records are householded, the "Head of Household" designation is assigned to the record you've selected as Head. A householded record retains all of its information (including mail and workflow history). The only thing that changes is that it is linked to other records. Existing households are never split with the householding process. If you select a record to household, and that record is a member of an existing multi-record household, all records in the existing household will become members of the new household.
