Market Specific Terminology
Intranet Quorum (IQ) is used by over 65% of the U.S. Congress, 50% of U.S. governors and 100+ U.S. federal, state and local government offices. Below is a list of the most common terms that are specific to these markets.
Member: In IQ, we will use this this term to refer to the individual who has been appointed or elected and inducted into U.S. Congress.
Boss: In IQ, we will use this term to refer to the individual who is the person of authority in a Federal/Local/or State office.
Caseworker/District Staff (House)/State Staff (Senate): In IQ, we will use this term within the US Congressional market as it is referring to an individual whose role is to work with agencies to manage services (e.g., casework, flag requests, tour requests, social security benefits, etc.) that are requested by their constituents.
Agency Liaison: In IQ, we will use this term within the Federal/State/Local market to refer to staff who often handle both regular constituent/citizen mail and referrals to agencies. These agencies are at the federal, state, or local levels.
Constituents: In IQ, this term is typically used within the US Congressional market and in some Federal/State/Local offices. It refers to a person who lives and votes within a voting district.
Citizen: In IQ, this term is typically used within the Federal/State/Local market and refers to an individual who is a participatory member of a political community.
